Daily Itinerary
 

Munich Town HallDay 1: Arrive Munich.

Arrival in Munich and a personal welcome. Possible visit to the museum at the old fortress Grunwald or the nearby Bavarian film studios.

Day 2: Munich to Murnau, 41 miles (65 km).

You leave Munich by crossing the Forstenrieder Park to Lake Starnberger. Using the lakeside cycle path you reach Seeshaupt and then on beautiful roads through ancient Bavarian villages to Murnau on lake Staffelsee.

Day 3: Murnau to Garmisch Partenkirchen, 22 miles (35 km).

In the morning you cross Murnauer Moos (moor) Nature Reserve and then alongside the river Loisach through unspoilt countryside to the famous Olympic town Garmisch Partenkirchen. You will have time to take the cable car up to Germany ’s highest mountain, the Zugspitze (2,962m) with wonderful views of the Alps.

Day 4: Garmisch Partenkirchen to Wallgau, 31 miles (50 km).

You take the train to Scharnitz gaining 300m in height. From there it is slightly uphill through wild and idyllic gorges to the source of the river Isar. Then you cycle down through the sunny valley with views to Karwendel and Wetterstein mountains, to Wallgau – an idyllic traditional Bavarian town.

Day 5: Wallgau to Bad Tölz, 31 miles (50 km).

Past Isarwinkel, following the crystal clear, turquoise waters of the Isar to the beautiful Lake Sylvenstein. Then through lovely rural countryside to Bad Tölz. This once important trading place is still impressive with its imposing and richly decorated old buildings.

Munich Town HallDay 6: Bad Tölz, 0 or 25 miles (0 or 40 km).

Through the charming landscape of Lake Tegern to Gmund am Tegernsee and then along the Gaißbach Valley back again to Bad Tölz. The thermal springs of the famous spa “Alpamare” make tired muscles fit again. Or, if you prefer you can stay in the town and relax.

Day 7: Bad Tölz to Munich, 28 miles (45 km).

Continuing along the Isar cycle path via Geretsried and Wolfratshausen to Grunwald with only a few brief ascents before you return to the lively Bavarian capital, Munich.

Day 8: Departure from Munich.
